Special Note: Please make certain you have the current 3DS Max 2009 FBX(Collada) plug-ins installed. They are seperate from 3DS Max 2009 service packs. Get plug-ins here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=6839916
Steps:
1. With 3ds Max 2009 running and your model loaded and displayed, click the File menu option and select Export.

2. Click Autodesk Collada(*.DAE) from the list of file formats.

3. In the Export dialog window that appears, leave all settings alone except for the Cameras and Lights. Uncheck them, and press the OK button.

4. Using Windows File Explorer, copy all exported and supporting files to the Visual3D sub-folder:
{V3D Install Path}/Projects/My Assets/ <-- copy files here. You can create your own sub-folders too.
where the default {V3D Install Path} is "C:/Realmware/Visual3D.NET {version}".

5. With Visual3D Architect running, and your World open, click on the Model Editor tab. Click the ... open model button, navigate to the folder containing your model and supported files and press select.

Your model should now display in the model editor.
